Oaxaca Destination Wedding FAQ

  • The average booking cost prices on this list are in USD. And while I made sure to provide up to date average 2026 pricing, these are only ballpark estimates to give you a realistic idea on what the venue rental fee is. But as with anything, reach out to the venue directly for current pricing based on guest count, date chosen etc., and make sure you tell them you found them here first.

And despite what people say, by simply being a foreigner, even if you a Mexicant, you will be charged a little bit extra. However! During your negotiation between the venue and the planner, say you want the "precio Raza."

    Works every time.

  • While venue fees range from $5,000 to $20,000 USD, a full-production destination wedding in Oaxaca typically averages between $40,000 and $85,000 for 100 guests, depending on the venue and catering choices.

  • Peak wedding season in Oaxaca is typically from October through March when the weather is dry and mild. Late October is especially popular due to the vibrant Dia de los Muertos atmosphere. But as with anything wedding related, these are the months when you can expect higher venue rental fees. January is by far the best month to get married in Oaxaca. Take note that peak rainy season in Oaxaca is between May and September.

  • Unless you're planning a simple dinner reception for 10–20 people at a local restaurant in El Centro, you will unfortunately need a wedding planner. This is Mexico — even in 2026, you can't just pick up the phone, call someone, or show up at most of the venues on this list and expect anyone to be there. That's simply how it's always been. Meaning, navigating local permits for calendas (parades), coordinating with local vendors, and booking venues will require a local wedding planner to get shit done.
